Who Can Become a Merchant?

At Lokala, we welcome a diverse range of businesses to join our vibrant merchant community. To maintain the integrity and quality of our marketplace, we require you to follow the criteria below:

1. Micro and Small Businesses

We encourage micro and small businesses (including private entrepreneurs) to become merchants on Lokala. Our platform is designed to support and promote local businesses, helping you reach a wider audience and grow your sales.

2. Locally produced products

Manufactured in Finland: All products must be manufactured or grown in Finland.
Minimum Domestic Content: At least half of the product’s production costs must be incurred in Finland.

By adhering to these requirements, you help us ensure that Lokala remains a trusted platform for high-quality, locally-produced goods, supporting the Finnish economy and local artisans.

How do I Become a Merchant?

Ready to grow your business? Join Lokala today and take advantage of new opportunities. Follow the following steps to get started:

Step 1: Create a Lokala Account

Begin your journey by creating a Lokala account by registering on our webpage. Click on Register and follow the prompts to complete your registration. After registering, you will receive a verification email. Click on the link in the email to verify your account. This step is crucial for the security of your account and ensures that we have accurate contact information.
Step 2: Sign Up as a Merchant

Once your email is verified, log in to your Lokala account and scroll to the footer of the page and go to the “Become a Merchant” page. Then click on the 'Register as Merchant' button.

You will need to provide your company name and company ID to sign up as a Merchant. Additionally, please read through all the documents provided on the Summary of Terms of Service page to understand our policies and guidelines before registering.
Step 3: Complete Your Merchant Profile

After registering as a merchant, complete your merchant profile. Providing detailed information will help potential customers understand more about your business and what you offer. Remember to also add pickup information, for the customer to be able to pick up their orders.
Step 4: Activate Payments

To facilitate smooth transactions, we use Stripe as our payment provider, allowing customers to pay for their orders directly on the webpage. As a merchant, you only need to activate payments and provide Stripe with the required information. Here’s how to get started:
- Activate Payments: Press the 'Payment Profile' button on the profile page to activate payments.
- Provide Information: Complete the steps to set up your account by providing Stripe with important details about your business.
Get payed: Payments will be transferred daily to your linked bank account!
Step 5: Add Products and You're Ready to Go!

Once your payment method is set up and your documentation is verified, it's time to add your products. Upload high-quality images, detailed descriptions, and prices for each product. Now you’re ready to start selling on Lokala!

Finally you only need to check the 'Active' checkbox on your Shop Information page to display your shop on the map!
